Terms and Conditions

• The Orkan key is the property of Orkan IS but its handling and use are the responsibility of the Orkan key's holder.
• The Orkan key is linked to a debit or credit card. Withdrawals made with an Orkan key are therefore charged as a transaction on the card linked to the applicable Orkan key.
• Should an Orkan key holder wish to use the "full tank" option at an Orkan service station, an authorisation hold of up to ISK 30,000 may be placed on the card linked to the Orkan key. Your bank may place this hold on your card in order to ensure that the card has sufficient balance. The authorisation hold is reversed as soon as the transaction has been completed. Orkan only deducts the exact amount pumped.
• The Orkan key is intended for withdrawals at Orkan stations and partner retailers and in association with other products and services that Orkan offers, or for which Orkan serves as an intermediary.
• The registered holder of the Orkan key undertakes to pay in full all withdrawals made with the key, either for the holder or a third party, with or without the registered holder's knowledge.
• The holder of the Orkan key is responsible for selecting the correct service station and pump, as applicable.
• Should the holder of the Orkan key wish to stop pumping, the nozzle of the selected pump must be removed from the holster and carefully placed back into the holster. If no action is taken, the pump shuts off automatically after 1.5-3 minutes. The holder of the Orkan key bears the risk of a third party using the pump during this time.
• The Orkan key is sent directly to the customer's home at no extra charge. It is important to register the correct address when applying for an Orkan key.

• Orkan key holders enjoy certain special terms, incl. a discount on each litre when pumping for the first time and on the birthday of the cardholder linked to the Orkan key, as well as a fixed discount per litre. Key holders also enjoy various other discounts from Orkan partners. Further information on discounts at Orkan stations and partners at any given time can be found on Orkan's website.
• On special discount days, specified discounts are not applicable on top of the key holder's existing discounts unless specifically stated. The customer always receives the most favourable discount at any given time.
• Special terms and discounts do not apply at Orkan stations that do not offer discounts. These stations are located at Bústaðarvegur, Dalvegur, Reykjavíkurvegur, Suðurfell and Mýrarvegur, Akureyri. These locations offer our lowest prices without a discount. The Orkan key works the same at Orkan stations that do not offer discounts as it does at standard Orkan stations, though it does not provide a discount at the Orkan stations at Bústaðarvegur, Dalvegur, Reykjavíkurvegur, Suðurfell and Mýrarvegur.
• Orkan key holders can choose to give ISK 5 per litre of their discount to the Icelandic Wetland Fund and thereby offset the carbon footprint of their fuel purchase at Orkan. Upon the first fuel purchase, after this option enters into effect, key holders are presented with a menu on the pump that gives them the option of agreeing to or declining to register for a carbon offsetting purchase. Key holders may change their registration on Orkan's website, orkan.is.

Orkan keyholders shall notify Orkan of any changes to their address, phone number and e-mail at orkan@orkan.is as soon as possible in order to ensure that the appropriate information is received. Regarding the handling of personal data, refer to Orkan's privacy policy, which is available on Orkan's website at orkan.is/personuverndarstefna.

Lost Orkan keys shall be reported immediately at orkan@orkan.is or by phone at 464-6000 during office hours. You can lock your Orkan key at any time of day on the Orkan website under "Mínar síður".

Note that Orkan key holders are fully responsible for all transactions.

Orkan IS does not reimburse for amounts credited to Orkan cards nor for the production of such cards.

Orkan IS reserves the full right to change the provisions of these terms and conditions, provided that the Orkan key holder is notified. Announcement of new terms and conditions to customers and/or publication on Orkan's website is considered sufficient notification.  The Orkan keyholder is deemed to have agreed to the changes if he/she uses the Orkan key after a notification of changes has been issued.

Should a dispute arise between the parties regarding the contents of these terms and conditions or due to violations thereof, the matter may be referred to the District Court of Reykjavík pursuant to the provisions of Act No. 91/1991.

These terms and conditions are in effect as of 25 January, 2021.
